I recall a time in my life when I was hampered with serious life issues. Like the crippled woman in Luke 13:10-13, I too, have been 'bent over' and quite unable to stand straight, for many years.Among the challenges that burdened my early years were homelessness, abuse, and illness. I reclaimed my life by getting sober and drug free 15 years ago, but still felt a certain emptiness in my life. I found my way to Transfiguration Lutheran Church in the South Bronx, NY, and learned that Christ loves me just the way I am. I don't have to do anything to deserve his love. I realize that I am called to help others who think that they are beyond Christ's reach.
I am currently attending seminary at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, as part of the Theological Education for Emerging Ministries (TEEM) Program, an alternate preparation process that is suited uniquely for persons such as myself that have been identified by the synod to provide leadership in an emerging ministry. I am also a candidate for ordination. It is my desire to reach out to others and vring the gospel to those who believe there is nowhere in God's kingdom for then-to invite those living 'bent over' from difficulties in life, to come to the table and partake of the feast, where everyone is welcomed, loved, and forgiven.
